Artefact Films presents Soundtrack for a Revolution at Curzon DocDays

This Wednesday (23 Feb) sees the screening of Artefact Films' Soundtrack for a Revolution at London's Curzon Soho cinema.

The film offers a new take on the Civil Rights movement in America in the late 1950s and 1960s. It details the role played by music, from gospel and blues to folk and protest songs, in energising communities across the US, from embattled citizens in the south to students who became freedom riders.

Rather than just present the songs as they were, the film also features contemporary artists, updated the most famous tracks, highlighting their importance today. The artists include John Legend, The Roots, Mary Mary, Ritchie Haven, the Blind Boys of Alabama, Wyclef Jean and Joss Stone.

Most importantly, and particularly in light of current events in the Middle East, the film highlights what can be achieved through peaceful protest.

The event will be introduced by Ian Haydn Smith, Editor of the International Film Guide.

Date: Wed 23 February

Time: 9pm

Location: Curzon Soho, 99 Shaftesbury Avenue, London, W1D 5DY
